Number of people who have worked on the project

Poipet is a border town in northwest Cambodia, on the border with Thailand. It is a town that, due to the number of newly built casinos, attracts a lot of immigration from the rural areas of Cambodia. But the options for them are scarce.

Unemployment leads to an increase in child beggars and their absence from regular school attendance , child prostitution or abandonment because their parents move to Thailand to work.

Poipet Kindergarden is a two-classroom kindergarten with a teacher's room, toilets, kitchen and coutyard in Poipet. In this nursery there are 83 children between the ages of 3 and 6. In addition to academic education, the children receive programs in hygiene, agriculture, food, etc.

In an area where 70% of the children do not go to school, while these children receive education, family support, interact with other children, eat three meals a day, stay away from the dangers offered by the city and above all, after completing the kindergarten years, have access to Don Bosco School to continue their nursery education.

MICA Sanchez: "Our concern was how and where to get someone who would fund the construction of a simple building to carry out the Project.
One fine day Javier Murúa came to our mission almost as a surprise. He was looking to fund a project... We talked to him about the Nursery. He loved it. He even proposed some improvements and... from there everything was easy and even nice. It was a dream come true. Two classrooms, kitchen, bathrooms and office...
Once again we are wholeheartedly grateful for this help from the MAGA FOUNDATION that not only initiated it but continues to visit us and help sustain the Project.
