The chances of the poorest children not going to school in countries like Sierra Leone are five times higher than in more developed countries. In addition, in most cases, children have to travel many kilometres each day to attend schools that are often overcrowded and lack the basics.

The people of Kasengbeh were also involved in building the school for their community. On the other hand, women and children wash and clean themselves in the rivers, one of the main sources of gastric infections, which is why the construction of wells for drinking water is so important.

*Each year more than 1.5 million children under the age of five die worldwide from preventable water-related diseases such as diarrhoea.

It is a school with a well that provides education for children in and around Kasengbeh village.

Children have the opportunity to go to school and get a continuing education, because the longer and better the education, the less likely it is that a child will have to do harmful work.

100 children in this rural area will benefit from what this school can offer them: quality education, good and adequate infrastructure, school supplies and a school within walking distance of their homes so they will not have to walk for hours to attend class.

The water wells are also a support to generate an obligation and consideration for parents to make it easier for children to go to school, so they do not have to walk several kilometers every day to collect water in the river. On the other hand it also allows them to have a water tank during the long dry season.

Medo Mansaray: "The schools built by the MAGA Foundation in Katohmbo and Kasengbeh will help the children to have a brighter future and help them to be self-sufficient and also to change the whole life of the community, free from natural beliefs and encourage them to participate in their development.
It will raise awareness among children, help them to know what is happening in the outside world, and to know what their rights are and not to be abused. It will also help reduce early marriage and genital mutilation. Of course, it will reduce the illiteracy rate".
